Simple Search Options:
In the Simple search option, the key word box will search for any instance of the word in the Author, Title, Annotation, Technical Area, Target population, Year or Country fields. For example, the term "HIV" will retrieve hundreds of records because it appears so frequently in titles and annotations. This search does not perform and/or searches, phrases or wildcard searches. The best strategy using this option is to type in one term at a time and browse the results. You can also select the number of records you view on a page from 5, 10, 20, 50. Selecting 50 will allow faster printing of a long list of records.
Additional Search Options:
The Advanced search allows you to narrow your search by querying individual fields. Each field that you add will significantly reduce the number of records you retrieve.
The Title box will allow you to search only the titles of records. The Annotation box will allow you to search only annotations. The Author Last Name box will search last names only.
The Technical Area box allows you to use pull down terms to search the general Technical Area of documents. Please refer to the Index of Related Search Terms to view related terms. To search two or more terms at a time in this field, hold down CTRL and select more than one.
The Intervention Target Group or Setting box allows you to search by Target groups for which interventions were designed or targeted in the document. For example, to find all documents concerning interventions targeting brothels, select brothels. Please refer to the Index for related search terms.
The Program Level box allows you to search by organizational levels ranging from community to global level. The Funding Source box allows you to search by funders ranging from bi-laterals to USAID. The User Audience box allows you to search by the audience level for which a document was intended or might be useful.
